Sake Sangria

Equipment

  • Large pitcher
  • stirring spoon

  • Wine glasses or tumblers

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle Junmai or Ginjo sake 750 ml
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup
  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur
  • 2 cups assorted fresh fruit such as oranges, lemons, limes, and berries
  • 1 cup soda water or ginger ale
  • Ice cubes for serving

Instructions
 

  • Slice the fresh fruits into thin rounds or wedges.
  • In a large pitcher, combine the sliced fruits with the simple syrup and orange liqueur.
  • Pour the sake over the fruit mixture and gently stir to combine.
  • Refrigerate the sangria for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Just before serving, stir in the soda water or ginger ale to add a light effervescence.
  • Serve the Sake Sangria over ice in wine glasses or tumblers.

Notes:

  • For a drier Sake Sangria, reduce the amount of simple syrup. Adjust the fruit selection based on seasonality for the freshest taste. If desired, garnish with a sprig of mint for an extra touch of freshness.
