Ingredients:
2 pounds sirloin steak, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons bacon grease
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium yellow onion, sliced
4 ounces fresh mushrooms, minced
1 large green bell pepper, sliced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup mayonnaise
12 slices provolone cheese
3/4 cup Cheez Whiz
6 hoagie rolls
Directions:
Thinly slice the steak against the grain, keeping the fat for flavor and tenderness.
Prepare vegetables: mince garlic and mushrooms, slice onion and bell pepper.
In a skillet, sauté garlic, onion, mushrooms, and bell pepper in bacon grease for about 10 minutes until softened.
Remove vegetables and set aside. In the same skillet, cook steak with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce until nearly done.
Return vegetables to the skillet with the steak, mix, and simmer until fully cooked.
Toast the hoagie rolls with a touch of bacon grease or butter.
To assemble, spread mayonnaise on each roll, add two slices of provolone (if using), then the steak and vegetable mix, and top with Cheez Whiz if preferred.
