Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 4 cube steaks about 1/2 pound each
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Gravy:

  • 1/4 cup pan drippings
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Begin by mixing the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish for the breading.
  • In another bowl, blend the eggs and milk.
  • Coat each steak with the flour mixture, dip in the egg mix, then again in the flour. Place on a wire rack.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and fry the steaks until golden, about 3-4 minutes per side. Keep warm under foil.
  • For the gravy, retain 1/4 cup pan drippings. Blend in flour until golden, then slowly add milk and whisk until thick. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve the steaks doused in the creamy gravy.
