MAKING THE OREO BALLS:

  • Line two baking trays with parchment paper and set them aside. Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor or blender and pulse them into fine crumbs. (You can also place them in a Ziploc bag and crush them with a rolling pin.)
  • 1 lb Oreo Cookies
  • Place the softened cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Beat with a hand mixer on high speed until smooth.
  • 8 ounces Cream cheese
  • Add the Oreo crumbs to the cream cheese and mix on medium speed until well combined.
  • Use a small cookie scoop to create evenly sized balls of the Oreo mixture, and then roll each one in the palms of your hands to make it smooth. Set the balls on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Place the balls into the refrigerator to chill for 2 hours. (Note: If you are short on time, you can freeze the balls for 15-20 minutes.)

DECORATING THE OREO BALLS:

  • Remove one tray of the prepared balls from the refrigerator. In a double boiler over low heat, melt the blue candy melts, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. (You can also use a microwave safe bowl and microwave on low setting for this step).
  • 12 ounces blue candy melts
  • Use a fork to dip each ball completely into the melted chocolate. Lift the fork and tap it to remove any excess coating.
  • Place the ball back onto the baking tray and immediately sprinkle with the white star confetti. Place the blue Oreo balls back into the refrigerator to allow the coating to set.
  • White star confetti sprinkles for topping
  • Remove the second tray of the balls from the refrigerator. Using a clean double boiler on low heat, melt the red candy melts, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
  • 12 ounces red candy melts
  • Use a fork to dip each ball completely into the red coating then lift the fork and tap it to remove any excess coating.
  • Place the ball back onto the cookie sheet and repeat with the remaining balls.
  • Using a small piping bag, microwave ⅓ cup white melting wafers in 30 second increments until melted. Massage the bag at each interval to ensure that the wafers melt evenly.
  • ⅓ cup White melting wafers
  • Snip a small piece of the tip off the end of the bag and drizzle white lines over the red Oreo balls. Return the balls to the refrigerator to allow the coating to set for 10 minutes. Keep refrigerated until ready to eat.
