Ingredients

  • 12 oz kielbasa sliced (use your preferred type)
  • 5 small russet potatoes diced
  • ½ head of cabbage chopped (about 6 cups)
  • 1 white onion sliced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 ½ cups chicken broth
  • teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for a bit of heat

Instructions

Brown the Kielbasa:

  • Slice the kielbasa into bite-sized pieces and brown them in a skillet over medium heat on the stovetop. This will give the kielbasa a nice, savory flavor. Once browned, transfer the kielbasa to the slow cooker.

Add the Remaining Ingredients:

  • Add the diced potatoes, chopped cabbage, sliced onion, salt, pepper, thyme, chicken broth, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the slow cooker. Stir to combine all the ingredients.

Slow Cook:

  • Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on LOW for 6 hours. Resist the urge to open the lid during cooking to keep the heat consistent.

Serve and Enjoy:

  • After 6 hours, stir the dish and serve hot. Enjoy this hearty and flavorful meal on its own or with crusty bread on the side!
