Ingredients
- 1 lb. smoked sausage sliced
- 4 cups potatoes diced
- 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned. Set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter and onions. Cook until onions are translucent.
- Stir in flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. Gradually add milk, stirring until the mixture thickens.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potatoes, half of the sausage, and half of the cheese. Repeat layers.
- Pour the milk mixture over the layered ingredients.
- Bake for 1 hour, or until potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
