Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb. smoked sausage sliced
  • 4 cups potatoes diced
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned. Set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add butter and onions. Cook until onions are translucent.
  • Stir in flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. Gradually add milk, stirring until the mixture thickens.
  • In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potatoes, half of the sausage, and half of the cheese. Repeat layers.
  • Pour the milk mixture over the layered ingredients.
  • Bake for 1 hour, or until potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
