Equipment
- Cocktail shaker
- Muddler
- Jigger or measuring cup
- Strainer
- Glass (typically a rocks glass or margarita glass)
- Knife and cutting board for garnishes
Ingredients
- 2 ounces tequila preferably silver/Blanco
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1/2 ounce triple sec or Cointreau
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- 2-4 slices fresh jalapeno with seeds for extra heat
- Ice cubes
- Lime wedge for garnish
- Salt for rimming the glass optional
- Additional jalapeno slices for garnish optional
Instructions
- If desired, salt the rim of your glass by running a lime wedge around the edge and dipping it into a plate of salt.
- In a cocktail shaker, muddle the jalapeno slices with the simple syrup to release their spicy flavors.
- Add the tequila, fresh lime juice, and triple sec to the shaker.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with a lime wedge and additional jalapeno slices if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the spicy, tangy flavors of your Jalapeno Margarita.
NOTES:
- Adjust the number of jalapeno slices to control the level of spiciness. Fresh lime juice is preferred for the best flavor. Simple syrup can be made by dissolving equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan over low heat, then cooling.
