Sichuan Spicy Dumplings
Perfect for that quick, tasty appetizer or main dish. Sichuan Spicy Dumplings Recipe
Ingredients
- 12 homemade or store-bought dumplings/wontons
For the sauce:
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp water or broth from dumplings if boiling
- 1 tbsp doubanjiang fermented bean paste
- 1/2 tbsp chili oil or chili garlic sauce
- 2-3 tsp sugar adjust to desired sweetness
- 2 tbsp Chinese black vinegar or rice vinegar
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- Chopped fresh scallions and coriander for garnish
Instructions
- Mix all the sauce ingredients in a bowl, adjusting sweetness and spice as desired.
- For steaming, line a bamboo steamer with parchment paper and steam the dumplings for 12-15 minutes.
- For boiling, bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the dumplings directly from frozen for 3-4 minutes until they float. Save some of the dumpling water if needed.
- Serve the dumplings with the sauce either as a dip or poured over. Garnish with scallions and coriander. Add more chili oil or sauce if desired.
