Slow Cooker Sausage and Peppers
Whipping up a batch of these Slow Cooker Sausage and Peppers tonight! Perfect for a cozy, no-fuss family dinner.
Equipment
- Large Skillet (I prefer cast-iron for most everything and then serve in it)
- Slow Cooker (This model has lid locks and a meat temp probe)
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. Olive Oil
- 1 lb. Sausages – Mildly spicy pork Italian sausage links (approx. 8 links)
- 3 Bell Peppers – One each of orange yellow, and red, cut into strips
- 1 large White onion sliced into half moons
- 4 Garlic cloves minced
- 1 tbsp. Italian Seasoning – A mix of dried oregano basil, marjoram, thyme, rosemary, and sage
- 1 tsp. Sea Salt more or less to taste
- 1 tsp. Black Pepper
- 16 oz Marinara Sauce – Homemade or store-bought
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and brown sausages on each side.
- In a slow cooker, combine bell peppers, onions, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat.
- Pour marinara sauce evenly over the vegetables.
- Place browned sausages into the slow cooker on top of the vegetables.
Slow Cooker on LOW: 4 to 5 hours
Slow Cooker on HIGH: 2 to 3 hours
